Turn feeding time into a full-body experience. Encourage children to use their pincer grasp to pick up food. Assist them in communicating with one another using sign language and gurgles. Applaud milestones – big and small.
Allowing the children to be explorative eaters will help them learn to express themselves. Listening to your words will help them respond to sounds and begin to understand how communication works. They will also begin to perfect their fine motor skills.

Set up a blanket or mat and place a ball on top of it. Now you’re ready for a “toy picnic.” Let the children explore together as you roll the ball back and forth to each other. Talk about what they are doing as you introduce more toys.
The children will have a great time with one another as they learn to express themselves and begin to understand how to communicate with each other. They will discover that their actions can make things happen.

As the children explore the room, play soft, soothing music to keep the environment calm. Talk to them about what is happening, reassure them if someone new comes into the room, and encourage them to try new things.
This activity will help teach the children to soothe themselves, make relationships with adults, and express their feelings. They will build their oral language skills as they work on their gross and fine motor skills.
