Play a variety of music for the children from classical to jazz. Sit with them on the carpet and give them soft toys to play with as you talk to them.
This activity will help the children become comfortable around teachers and one another. They will build on their understanding of language as they begin to realize that they can make things happen by moving their bodies.

Take the children on a stroller ride. As you walk around, point out, name, and discuss things you see. “Look at the other children playing. They are running and kicking a soccer ball.”
This simple stroller ride will help babies learn to express themselves, begin to recognize sounds in language, and help them notice other children.

Place two to three babies on their bellies on the carpet. Let them do some exploring of their surroundings. Place soft toys and books within their reach. Talk to them about what they are doing as they play. “Do you like the green frog? A frog says, ‘Ribbit.’”
As the children enjoy each other’s company, they are also learning to calm themselves and are becoming familiar with other children and you. They are learning to listen and express themselves, and that they can make things happen by moving their bodies.
