As you are changing your toddler’s diaper, give him a wipe to keep his hands busy. Say, “Show me how you clean your tummy.” Ask him to name several body parts as he washes them. When you’re done changing his diaper, have him hand you the wipe that he’s been playing with and say, “All done.”
This activity will help your toddler show more awareness of herself, follow directions, understand routines, and develop her eye-hand coordination.

While playing blocks with your toddler, talk about what you are building and encourage him to repeat words that you say. Ask him to tell you what he’s making and praise him with comments such as, “Wow! That’s a tall house you’re building!”
This activity will help develop your toddler’s sense of independence by showing more awareness of her abilities. It will also increase her vocabulary and provide her with time to explore size and position to solve problems.

Ask your toddler to help you hold the book and turn the pages. While reading, encourage him to repeat the words you read aloud. Talk about the pictures as you read each page. Ask him to point to and name the pictures.
This activity will help your toddler show more awareness of his abilities by doing things himself. It will also help him learn new words, develop important pre-reading skills, and strengthen his memory and eye-hand coordination.
