Encourage your toddler to climb. Allow him to climb to new heights. Be close in case he needs help, but only help if needed. When he gets to the top, praise him and ask him, “How did you get so high?”
This activity will help your toddler to show more independence, use words to express herself, seek information through exploration, and perform complex movements.

Go for a walk around the playground. Encourage your toddler to invite a friend to go with you. Allow him to pick up different things that he finds (twigs, leaves, rocks, etc.) and to put them in a bag to bring home. Ask him questions about the items he finds.
This activity will encourage your toddler to play with other children. It will also help your child learn to use words to express himself, develop vocabulary, seek information through exploration, and develop his eye-hand coordination.

Play a listening game with your toddler. While on the playground, have him listen for different sounds in the environment (sirens, birds, wind, children playing, etc.). Start by telling him a sound that you hear and then ask him to tell you a sound that he hears. Discuss where the sounds come from.
This activity will help your child show increasing self-awareness. It will also help her to understand questions, follow directions, demonstrate active listening, use words, and develop pre-reading skills. This listening game will also help her to use her senses to gather information and develop spatial awareness.
