
Read with your child. Ask him to pick out one book and tell him he may pick another one when you finish this one. It is alright if he picks the same books everyday! Read with him and allow him to finish sentences that he knows. Ask him to turn the pages. Discuss the illustrations and ask him questions about the text.
This activity will help your child to relate his wants by allowing him to pick out the books you will read. It will also help him develop his pre-reading skills, learn about quantity, and develop finger skills.

Allow your child to do as much for himself as he can. Encourage him to dress himself, wash his hands, clean up, and put on his own coat. Give him instructions as needed and help him to complete the tasks when he asks or begins to get frustrated.

Encourage creative play by giving your toddler playdough, cookie cutters, and plastic ware. Ask him to make different shapes with the cookie cutters and then to name them. Encourage him to make pretend food shapes and play restaurant with him. Praise his creativity and discuss his creations with him.
